Bumps On Teeth
Unusual?: Bumps growing on teeth are quite unusual, but if it is artificial, it makes sense: a tooth-colored resin bonding agent is commonly used to hold the brackets. It is likely that you are seeing the excess bonding glued to the tooth surface. Please return to your dentist and see if it needs to be removed, as this may cause some plaque retention, or even food trap. Can you send a phone picture to dr? ...Read more
I have a painful bump behind my teeth after using orthofill (bands that close gaps) what is it and how do you get rid of it?
Dangerous: Probably irritation of the incisive papilla. Elastics to close gaps between teeth usually cause gaps to open on the other side of the teeth, irritate the gum tissue between the teeth, and can slip up under the gums and cause gum recession. See your dentist asap to check for damage, then see an orthodontist for safe tooth movement. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
I have swollen bumps behind my front teeth. Just woke up with them, they aren't painful at all. I also have a cold right now. What could this be?

The bump behind top front teeth (incisive papilla?), is suddenly red and smooth when wet. Could this be from accidentally catching it with toothbrush?
I noticed that my plica fimbriata is ripped along the line and it causes major pain every time I bump it against my bottom teeth.. Any suggestions?
How did you do that?: It is very difficult to rip the plica fimbriata. Are you sure that is what you ripped and not the lingual frenum? Either way the only way to help it heal is to avoid too much movement, avoid contact with your teeth and rinse with warm salt water. Do not use hydrogen peroxide or anything with alcohol. If it is not better in 7 to 10 days contact your dentist. ...Read more
I just noticed my 2 year old has a small red bump behind her top front teeth what could this be i can't get her in to see the dr till monday.
Painful?: If she is not in any pain - or very little - don't worry. It may be nothing at all but normal gum tissue. Monday is not going to be too long to have a professional take a look. If there is any discomfort you might try icy cold or salty warm water and ask her if either feels good. Make a game of it and relax. She's lucky to have a parent who cares. Best! ...Read more
