An: An itchy rash with raised red bumps can be caused by many, many things such as:
-food or drug allergy
-viral infections such as fifths disease, roseola, ebv, CMV just to name a few
-insect bites such as fleas or scabies
-bacterial infection such as scarlet fever (caused by strep)

or it can be seen in very rare things such as:

The best thing to do is to call your child's doctor. They may want to take a look to see what it may be. Odds are that if your child does not have a fever or is not acting sick, then it's probably nothing serious. ...Read more

I have itchy skin every where no dry skin and when it itches it starts to burn and get red but no bumps or rash what is this?

I have itchy skin every where no dry skin and when it itches it starts to burn and get red but no bumps or rash what is this?

Well: It gets red and itches then goes away, no rash or bumps. It could be a rash or what is called idiopathic urticaria, release of inflammation due to stress. Oddlly enough sometimes an h-2 bkocker like tagamet for the the stomach can help. It may be allergic reaction or something else and I would not avoid seeing a doctor. I would trey Benadryl (diphenhydramine) at night and tagamet is pretty cheap. Look up idiop. ...Read more

What does a brown recluse spider bite look like I have a bite on index finger and the skin is coming off. It burns and itches, has little ant bite type bumps

What does a brown recluse spider bite look like I have a bite on index finger and the skin is coming off. It burns and itches, has little ant bite type bumps

A: A brown recluse bite can have different appearances. There can be almost no signs of the bite or there can be a dark escar (scab) with surrounding white tissue (that is dead). In some cases the brown recluse's bite can be necrotoxic and cause very severe damage. It can large amounts of skin to die and can eat into the muscle as well. This type of reaction is usually associated with fever, muscle and joint pain and feeling very ill. I can not diagnose the cause of your symptoms. Brown recluses are actually very little and non-descript looking. If your skin is sloughing off your finger - do recommend that this be medically evaluated. ...Read more

My son has a rash and iam woundering what it is? The rash is inside of the skin, there is no bumps or welts, it itches and burns. There is no fever or nausea, no votming

There: There are many conditions that can cause a rash that appears to be inside or "under" the skin.

If it is itching or burning, you would need to be concerned about some type of contact he had, such as an allergan.

It could also be several different skin conditions, such as eczema, or could be the result of an infection.

I am glad he has no fever or vomiting. If he developed those symptoms he would have to be seen immediately.

As it is itching and burning though, I would urge you to take him to his doctor for an evaluation. ...Read more

I shaved my head with clippers a few days ago and my scalp is burning and itching. I have razor bumps and burn on my scalp. How do I fix this?

I have been experiencing itching without a rash followed by a burning sensation, crawling feeling underneath skin and small red bumps. Help please!

Red bumps: If the red bumps clear within a day, they may be hives caused by an allergic reaction to something internal (example=food) or external by something coming in contact with your body. If the bumps persist for a few days, insect bites could be the culprit. Taking antihistamine like benadryl (causes drowsiness) or claritin (nondrowsy) helps. See a dermatologist or allergist as needed. ...Read more
