Keratosis pilaris: Keratosis pilaris is a common condition where one gets rough bumps on the back of the arms and/or anterior thighs. It is purely a cosmetic issue and there is no harm in having them. Unfortunately, there is no cure. Typically, the hair follicle gets plugged resulting in rough flesh- or pink-colored bumps. Some can be helped by exfoliating the skin (i.e. Loofah) and using an exfoliating cream. Read more

I had a chemical peel and my face stings and itches. What should I do?

Hydrate.: Post chemical peel, you may experience stinging and itching. I find products like avene thermal spray and moisturizers such as the skinmedica tns ceramide to be quite helpful in hydrating during this portion of your recovery. In a real pinch, you could take an oral antihistamine such as zyrtec or even apply topical Cortaid (hydrocortisone) for more relief. Read more

My face is covered in melasma, don't want it to get worse Other than the downtime which is safer the I2pl eclipse or a chemical peel. Tyvm?

Specialist: This very important question, since it involves your face, should involve a dermatologist or plastic surgeon. I'm not sure whether either treatment you mentioned would effectively clear melasma. One who specializes in these treatments and in disorders like melasma are best qualified to address this question. I have vitiligo spot on my back and neck, it's only one spot it hasn't spread in years. I m getting chemical peel on face, would it affect myvitiligo?

Doubt vitiligo: A single depigmented spot is unlikely to be true autoimmune vitiligo. But before you get that peel -- why do you want it? -- I'd get with a dermatologist. You know that the koebner phenomenon can make vitiligo flare as a result of mild injury. Best wishes. Read more

My face is peeling from getting a tan, Is a chemical peel (glycolic acid) on the skin a good home remedy?

My face is peeling from getting a tan, Is a chemical peel (glycolic acid) on the skin a good home remedy?

Peeling skin & tan: The best thing for you skin is not to tan in the first place. I would avoid a chemical peel during this period while your skin is recovering for the acute injury cased by the tan, Instead hydrate your skin well and often, (I recommend either Epionce Medical Barrier Cream or SkinMedica TNS Ceramide Treatment Cream) and add a hydrating, broad spectrum antioxidant sunscreen of SPF30 everyday.
