Are small little bumps around the vaginal opening normal in a teen? And if lightly scratched or itched, bleed?
Need to see a doctor: Small bumps around the vaginal opening could be completely normal, but what worries me is that you say if they are "lightly scratched" they bleed. That doesn't sound normal. The possible causes of bumps around the vaginal opening depend on whether or not you are sexually active. You would want to have the bumps tested for sexually transmitted infections such as herpes. Difficult to Say: Herpes lesions are generally painful, but not always. Many other potential causes could present as you describe. Some are STD's like genital warts, other causes could be as simple as a clogged hair follicle. If it concerns you, see your GYN and they can give you a much better idea what the potential cause might be. Good luck. Read more

No douching: Douching is not recommended. It increases the risk of pelvic infections. Use just plain soap and water for cleaning the outside genitals. The vagina is self-cleaning. The bumps are likely normal parts of your anatomy. Either hymenal ring or glands. You can have an exam and ask the doctor to show you the normal anatomy so you have a better idea of what is normal. Bartholin Gland Cyst: This sounds like a bartholin gland cyst. These are basically a blocked pore/duct in the vagina. They often need to be drained by a gynecologist or family doctor with experience. They cause pain and increased discharge and are often a marble shape. Sometimes you can feel fluid in there. Otherwise, could be sebaceous cyst, skin tag, condyloma. Get it checked out though. Had unprotected sex and now have an itch in vaginal opening. ..Looks like there could be a medium sized bump near itching also?
Small bump about 1 CM in size, and is risen. It is located just outside of vulvar opening on rt side. Also experiencing dark vaginal discharge.
A few ideas: Bumps on the vulva can be 1) condyloma (warts), very common and typically benign; 2) bartholin gland cyst (these originate in vagina, but can expand to outside of vulva), typically very painful; 3) sebaceous cyst (benign and filled with white cheesy material; 4) herpes (typically with red-circle border and painful to touch. I don't think the dark vaginal discharge is associated... Likely old blood. Read more
