Will my black nail grow back normally? Slammed car door on it.

Will my black nail grow back normally? Slammed car door on it.

Blood under nail: If you hit your skin very hard, it will damage small blood vessels in your skin, and you will get a bruise, where blood has leaked from the veins into the skin. If you hit your finger nail very hard, you will get bleeding under the nail, which may lift your nail up. There is no where for this blood to go, and the black, old blood, will remain until the nail grows out and it may take months. ...Read more

Hit head above left temple on corner of car door 3 days ago. Small bump barely noticeable bruise&little scratch. Slight headache yesterday&today. Dr??

Ice it!: Accidents happen. The best, easiest & cheapest thing you can do is ice the area as soon as possible. Earlier is better, more often is better than less often. Acetaminophen, if you're otherwise healthy, can be used for pain relief (I tend to avoid ibuprofen). As you didn't lose consciousness or develop neurological symptoms (weakness, numbness) I surmise you will recover. Stay healthy &Good luck. ...Read more

?

Probably not.: Head injuries are worrying if there is loss of consciousness, vomiting, fluid coming from the ears or nose, change in behavior, unequal pupil size, weakness in any muscle of face or body. If none of these are present, and your kid is acting fine, keep a careful watch. For 24 hours, check every 2 hrs for alertness, pupil size and normal movement in face, limbs. (wake him up through night to check.) ...Read more

Observe her: Probably she'll be fine. Red flags to take her to er stat include: sleepiness, vomiting, purple or red bruise behind 1 ear (battle's sign), facial deformity after the fall, confusion, or seizure. Normal, non-emergent signs to expect after a head injury include headache, nausea, irritability, and lack of interest in playing. Trust your instinct, you're never wrong to bring her to er.
