Ice it!: Accidents happen. The best, easiest & cheapest thing you can do is ice the area as soon as possible. Earlier is better, more often is better than less often. Acetaminophen, if you're otherwise healthy, can be used for pain relief (I tend to avoid ibuprofen). Red flags to take her to er stat include: sleepiness, vomiting, purple or red bruise behind 1 ear (battle's sign), facial deformity after the fall, confusion, or seizure. Normal, non-emergent signs to expect after a head injury include headache, nausea, irritability, and lack of interest in playing. Trust your instinct, you're never wrong to bring her to er.
