Sick Achilles.: Your comments sound like the findings of a previous x-ray exam. I'm not sure what is meant by "bump on the opposite side of the ankle". If it is in the Achilles tendon, then extreme pain, could make sense. It sounds as though there is something amiss with your Achilles tendon. Most likely its the: Ends of a broken bone which probably are angulated at the break site or if the injury is 4-6 weeks old, it might be the healing bony tissue. Over used heel.: It sounds like you are describing a posterior calcaneal spur with associated Achilles tendinitis. Stopping, or severely reducing, the pull of the Achilles tendon is the first line of treatment. Application of heat and/or cold will help, but the tendinitis inflammation must be reduced and off loading is the best way. Elevated heels on your shoes may help.
