I have tenderness on my lower eyelid but no sign of a sty (redness, bump, inflammation). What could it be?

Unclear: It is unclear but may be a small gland infection. I would wait and see as this does not appear to be serious as yet from what you have said. I would not wear makeup until this has settled down as this can sometimes aggravate eye problems. ...Read more

I have a small red painless bump in my lower eyelid margin (kind of the crease of the eyelid) for almost 2 months. What could it be?

Many things: There are many conditions that can appear on the eyelid margin. It is impossible to diagnose without examination under a slit lamp microscope by an ophthalmologist. Eyelid styes, papillomas, blepharitis, even skin cancers can occur on the eyelid. If this bump is new, than you need to be examined by an ophthalmologist to determine the diagnosis and then further treatment. Good luck! ...Read more

Possibilities: The most common cause is a sty (hordeolum); and infection of a meibomian gland in the lid . Treatment is warm compresses and topical antibiotics. Rarely incision and drainage is needed. Mils dicomfort may indicate a continued infection. Have it evaluated ...Read more

What do you suggest if my eye hurts and there is a swollen bump inside my lower eyelid. what is it?

Most likely a stye: Most likely it's a chalazion or a stye. They should resolve with warm compresses. If they don't it needs to be drained and at the same time I would. Biopsy it to make sure it's not a malignancy. ...Read more

My eye hurts and there is a swollen bump inside my lower eyelid. What could be the cause?

My eye hurts and there is a swollen bump inside my lower eyelid. What could be the cause?

Stye: At your age, this is probably a stye. This is a blocked gland in the substance of the lid which will produce a red swelling on the inside of the lid. If advanced it may swell the whole lid. To treat, use very warm washcloths socked from your water tap (not too hot). for about 5 minutes at a time, 5 times per day for several days . this will usually get rid of it. ...Read more

Eye: This could be a plugged up eyelid gland, either a sweat gland (sty) or oil gland ( chalazion). The usual treatment for both is hot packs applied to the site. If not better with that in a few days or if there is redness to the eye and/or discharge, you should get it checked by a doctor. ...Read more

I have a bump on my lower eyelid near the place where tears come from what is it is it safe

This : This may be a chalazion or hordeolum. If red and painful it likely represents the a localized infection of and oil gland within the eyelid (hordeolum). Some people call each of these conditions "styes." you can use warm compresses to help for spontaneous resolution. If this does not do the trick, a trip to your eye doctor may be in order. Courses of medications or incisional surgery can help. There can also be other growths on or near the eyelid - most are benign. Your eye doctor would have the benefit of having magnification (slit lamp exam) when evaluating these lesions. ...Read more

Had a stye in my lower eyelid. Seems to be gone but, there is still a bump with what it looks like the infection?

Had a stye in my lower eyelid. Seems to be gone but, there is still a bump with what it looks like the infection?

Chalazion: A stye or chalazion results from an oil producing tear gland that got obstructed, then split open releasing its oil to the soft tissues in the eyelid. This can result in a hard "bump" when the inflammation resolves. If you have used hot compresses (5 min - 4 times a day) for more than a week, and it does not appear to be getting smaller, you should see an ophthalmologist. It can be removed ...Read more
