Yes: Hopefully this resolves in 30 minutes or so. It may even slow some in 10. Some folk experience even higher heart rates during an attack, and do not incur permanent damage, so don't worry about that. Maybe not enough: Most likely the xanax (alprazolam) is still having some effect. Probably it is just not working well enough. Other treatments that are often helpful include serotonin antidepressants (sri's like prozac, zoloft, lexapro) and cognitive behavioral therapy. You should talk to your doctor. But don't abruptly stop the xanax (alprazolam). ...Read more
