Lots to try: First, it sounds like you are quite distressed by your symptoms. There is hope for relief. Find a doctor who has a lot of experience treating fibromyalgia. Have them see if the bulging disc is responsible for any of your pain as it often is not. Treatment often requires a combination of physical therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy. Meds like cymbalta, savella, (milnacipran) or Lyrica can be helpful too. ...Read more

Yes: But they're not injected into the disk. Steroids can be injected into the facet joints or into epidural spaces. Epidurals are very safe and effective for sciatica and can also be used to treat spinal stenosis, but less effectively. And yes, they help to reduce pain. ...Read more

Let's analyze: If you possess bulging discs in neck and back, these are NOT affecting your walking in any fashion. You claim your Multiple Sclerosis is "not active", but instead, is it Secondary Progressive? Do you have a co-morbidity of B-12 deficiency? Is your neurologist an MS focused specialist? My doctor has told me I have a bulging disk in my neck and lower back. The pain has now spread around to my hip. Is this normal? Been on gabapentin.

Back and hip. : Bulging disks in the low back can certainly cause hip pain. Discs however in the neck do not. It is very common for pain to start in the back and slowly progress and start to radiate along the path of the nerve which can be in fact in the hip area. Gabapentin tends to work best for burning or searing pain however dull achy toothache like discomfort rarely responds to that medication. ...Read more

Varies: Appropriate warm up and stretching before athletic activities, core strengthening, NSAIDs, making sure you are using correct technique while doing your sport are all ways back pain is typically managed in a student athlete. "Doctor: It hurts...: The right and first answer when they hear that doing something hurts, is to tell the patient not to do the thing that hurts. I see no benefit of you doing straight leg raises with pain. Perhaps it is time to get back to the doctor to figure out what to do with your spine injury. ...Read more
