These could be part of occipital neuralgia, polymyalgia rheumatica or degenerative disc disease with radiculopathy. Likewise the migraine complex may not be set off by cervical or spine disease. Someone needs a look: Usually painful swelling in neck is a lymph node responding to an infection, possibly a pimple or sore on the scalp. You will probably feel better putting a bit of heat on it but don't mess with it too much or it could get worse. If it doesn't get better after a few days, see someone.
