How long does it take the swelling go away from a spider bite on your face?

See below: Generally speaking, local reactions (redness, swelling, warmth, itch or no itch) to insect bites, including most spiders, maximize at about 72 hours after the bite and then should recede and improve. If it is not improving or worsening and becoming painful, oozing or red streaking is seen going away from the wound toward the center of the body, seek medical care for a possible infection. ...Read more

Scalp Bite: Depending on what the bite is from, how long it's been there, and the extent of the "swelling", you may wish to have it evaluated. An "abscess" can fill with puss and may not cause a fever, but still needs to be drained. The age of your son may make some difference with respect to urgency as well. ...Read more

Cool compress: I would recommend applying cool compresses to the affected area. In addition, an oral antihistamine may be helpful such as Benadryl (diphenhydramine) or zyrtec. If the area of swelling becomes painful to the touch, or if you develop a fever, see your physician. This could indicate an underlying infection. ...Read more

Swelling in the face after mosquito bite. How can you tell if it is infected?

Swelling in the face after mosquito bite. How can you tell if it is infected?

Not easy: Unusual for a mosquito bite to be infected absent your scratching it and abrading the skin over it. If the area of redness expands, is very warm to touch and tender rather than itchy see a doctor asap. Infections in the facial tissues can progress very rapidly and with severe complications possible. If the lesion comes to a head and looks like it contains pus, do not squeeze it. ...Read more

See your doctor: You may need a Rabies Vaccine if the health status of the dog is unknown and may also need a tetanus shot. Your dr. May have prescribed antibiotics for 7-14 days. You can keep the wound clean and apply antibiotic ointment on it. Also, you can apply an ice pack on your face for 10- 15 min at a time to make the swelling go down. Follow up with your physician. ...Read more

Hi, I got a bit of face swelling and hives from the azithromycin. I took 3 tablets over 3 days. How long should these effects be for?

Take antihistamines: 20 year old female with face swelling and hives while taking azithromycin. Sounds like an allergic reaction to the medicine, but hives and swelling could also be due to a viral infection. Azithromycin allergy is rare. Symptoms should resolve pretty quickly with oral anthistamines (diphenhydramine, cetirizine, etc). If not resolving with antihistamines, please see your PCP or allergist. ...Read more

I'm a 11 year old and I have a big lump on my back teeth I thought it was an abcess tooth at first because my face started swelling up a little bit??

New tooth: At 11 years old you most likely still have some baby teeth in the back. For most kids your age the next to last tooth is still a baby second molar. The 'bump" may be the new permanent tooth coming in. If the "bump" is on the cheek side this is probably the case. I see this very often. The solution is to have the baby tooth removed by your dentist for the new tooth can come in better. ...Read more

Did u have a recent: Cold? Or allergies? Lymph nodes tend to get swollen or tender whenever there is some form of immune challenge as above, usually not by themselves. See your doctor to have it evaluated fully, and they can do a head, eyes, ear, nose, throat exam to see what might be causing it, and treat it quickly. during menses I have dizziness, vomiting, vein swelling of the left neck, half of head pain. No menses but pain in center forehead a bit dizzinessWhat?

Catamenial migraine: Can be tricky to treat. Headaches that are exacerbated or brought on by menses are treated a bit differently than your typical migraine. I suggest you see a neurologist to address your salutation in more detail. If you don't get this sorted out you can consult with one of my colleagues or with me (I'm a neurologist)
