Hard to say: without being able to see the lesion. It sounds like you may have a "boil" or small abscess. Try placing a warm washcloth over the area for 10 minutes and see if this brings any relief. Boils sometimes abate on their own but also may require antibiotics. ...Read more

Bed bugs: Bed bugs strike in linear streaks and cause a lot of itching. It is usually not painful. Spider bites could cause more pain but usually they don't cause that many bites in a row. I'm betting on bed bugs and recommend you check you bed for small black insects. You may see blood marks on your sheets too where the bugs were squashed as you slept.
