I currently use rhinocort aqua for nasal allergies, it is so expensive, and nasonex (mometasone) doesn't work for me. Any other options?

Generic flonase: Nasal steroids are a great first choice for medication treatment of allergies. Your insurance will likely want you on a generic if possible. There is a generic option for Flonase and this to some degree for a number of patients. ...Read more

Fexofenadine: Tough to say which is safest and if any can contribute to sezures in your daughter, but fexofenadine (allegra) does not cross the blood brain barrier. That is the reason it does not cause drowsiness. And because it does not cross the blood brain barrier, it likely has limited ability to contribute to your daughters seizures. ...Read more

Can help: If you have eustachian tube dysfunction (problems equalizing ear pressure) those meds can sometimes help. Sudafed is not a good medication for long term use, however, especially if you have high blood pressure or a heart problem. Discuss with your doctor or ent. An alternative to : stopping the med is to cut back to 1/2 the a daily dose and start using saline spray liberally between doses.If improved after a few days,Increace dose...and to the nose,be gentle. ...Read more

Maybe: Flonase does contain alcohol which can irritate some peoples noses. Rhinocort can also cause nasal bleeding but it does not contain the alcohol which is in Flonase. It might be best to stop both for a few days. ...Read more
