Budesonide And Formoterol Fumarate Dihydrate Side Effects
Is treating chronic cough with a combination of Budesonide+Formoterol Fumarate considered aggressive treaetment? Does benefit outweighs the risks?
Depends on cause.: Technically, that would depend on the cause of your cough, and as such the treatment you mention wouldn't be aggressive as much as it would be misdirected. This would be fine for asthma or COPD, perhaps, but not for allergies or reflux, which can also cause a chronic cough. ...Read more

Is combivair 200 (budesonide + formoterol fumarate) only for Asthma or has other uses such as chronic cough control as well?
Also used for COPD: The combination of budesonide and formoterol (known as Symbicort in the US) is a medication that is used for asthma and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). While COPD patients often suffer from chronic cough, combivair/Symbicort are not approved for and do not treat chronic cough itself. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
I am advised to take 2-3 dosages of combihale fb 200 inhaler (budesonide-200mcg and formoterol-6mcg) 2 puffs each day. Is it safe for long term?
Budesonide/formotero: I assume you are taking it for asthma. Long acting b2 agonists such as formoterol have a black box warning to increase the risk of death. It seems to be somewhat attenuated when taken along with a steroid formulation such as Budesonide as in your case. Most people do fine using this long term, though. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Preventative drug: Medications such as symbicort which contain and inhaled corticosteroid are used as maintenance (preventive) therapy to control persistent asthma. The formoterol component is a long-acting airway opener and may provide some initial relief of acute asthma symptoms; however symbicort should never be used to relieve acute asthma symptoms (use your rescue albuterol under those conditions). ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Does the asthma medication "symbicort" (budesonide/formoterol) prevent or relieve the symptoms of asthma?
Prevent: Symbicort is a "controller" medication for asthma - it reduces asthmatic inflammation in the lungs, thereby preventing bronchospasm and its associated symptoms. Symbicort is not approved in the United States for relieving the symptoms of asthma. Albuterol is the drug of choice to treat an asthma attack. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

I've been sick for 2 weeks with bronchitis & today i went to my pulmonologist (i have asthma), who gave me performist & budesonide for my nebulizer in place of my advair. Is there any side effects?
Asthma: You are on the same classes of medications .Advair is fluticasone and salmeterol . The advantage of the nebulized medications is that they can be easier to use when you are short of breath. Most patients say they feel that they get more of the medications when they are nebulized versus orally inhaled especially when they are short of breath, . ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
