Bleeding: When you sprain the mcl, you tear the ligament. This caused bleeding in the location of the tear. You probably elevated the knee, so the blood travelled behind your knee and collected where you see bruising. That is completely normal. It may even become sore in the bruised area because of an inflammatory response. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Off and on hamstring pain for a year. This is the 6th "flare" with a bruise on my upper thigh. The pain is in the middle/bottom. Strain or worse?
Investigation needed: It sounds like you may have a partially torn tendon which keeps giving you grief. See a physiotherapist or doctor who can arrange an Ultrasound scan of your thigh to determine the cause of pain. If the bruising is spontaneous then there may be further concerns of a bleeding into the muscle tissue and you may need blood tests to rule out a bleeding / clotting disorder ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

1yr old has bruise on leg bloods came back platlelet 90 neutrophils 0.7 why are the requesting second blood test?
Confirmation: The numbers you give are not very helpful but platelets of 90(thousand) are on the low side. What .7 neuts refers to is confusing. You repeat a test to see if the initial test was wrong, the levels change or to define the problem more clearly. Low platelets could be a technical glitch, a problem with production or excessive destruction.Further testing narrows your search. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
My three year old son has random bruises all over his legs. They are small and seems to be a new one added every day. What could this be?
Bruising in 3 yo boy: If your son is really active and these areas experience frequent trauma (as most boys do), that is normal. If bruising happens when there is no trauma or is wide spread or if bruises are really deep, it needs an evaluation right away. If your baby is not more active than usual, please take him to his pediatrician to be evaluated. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Red swollen hot to touch spots on right leg , about 4 inches round , last for a few days then bruise before going away I am 20 years old, female.?
Infection?: Red hot swollen spots make me think of infection, perhaps abscess or folliculitis, or sebaceous cysts. Abscesses don't usually go away by themselves but rather need to be drained. Folliculitis might come & go but not usually 4" in diameter (that's huge!). Not common to have several sebaceous cysts in one area. Go see your family doc for evaluation, testing & treatment. Perhaps bleeding disorder? ...Read more

Can a one year old child pull a muscle or strain their leg? My daughter is very active and it pains her too walk? Any thoughts?
Sprain vs. Fracture: If she is not able to put weight on the leg, she needs to have X-rays taken. There are certain fractures, most notably toddlers' fractures of the tibia, that are often diagnosed clinically even if X-rays are normal. These injuries need to be immobilize to ensure proper healing. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
I have a 6 year old daughter. Here lately when she bumps into something she bruises immediately and they are mostly on her legs. What should I do?
Not to worry unless-: If these bruises are on prominent parts of her body - anterior shins, areas that kids frequently bump, i would do nothing. They are part of childhood. If you are seeing bruises in weird places - inner thighs or arms, genital region, armpit- or if your child has any other unusual bleeding like nose bleeds, gum bleeding with tooth brushing, then i would talk with your doc about lab work for bleeding. ...Read more
