Depends: Probably just sustained a contusion. A bad enough hit depening on location could also cause a small crack in the bone. More than likely though a contusion. Try to ice it and start some nsaids and move it as much as possible within reason. If not better in couple days or notice anything mechanical may be worth an xray. ...Read more

Elbow: The most likely answer is he bumped his elbow hard enough to cause some bleeding deep next to the bone. The 'light blood' in the conditions might mean he is on some blood thinner. Even Aspirin can make you more prone to this kind of bleeding. Alternatively, the gout could also be the cause but you didn't mention it being painful. which is usually the case. ...Read more

Good idea.: Wrap it with a towel to protect the skin and use a ziplock with ice in it or a bag of frozen peas if there is no other ice pack available. Ice for 15 minutes every 1/2 to 1 hour while awake. Probably bumped your ulnar nerve running by the olecranon, commonly called the "funny bone". ...Read more
