Two weeks but vary: In many instances this will depend on the extent of the lower facelift and adjunctive procedures such as liposuction or fat grafting or laser resurfacing/peels as well as one own's tendency for bruising and hairstyle to camouflage the cheek region. With truly minimal lower facelifts, some may return after 5-7 days whereas more extensive procedures may produce bruising for up to 3-4 weeks.

Lower facelift/necklift will swelling bruising be easier to conceal than a full facelift? Want to return to work in 2 weeks without drawing attention?

Lower facelift/necklift will swelling bruising be easier to conceal than a full facelift? Want to return to work in 2 weeks without drawing attention?

Facelift Heal Time: In general the less invasive a procedure the less recovery time required including bruising. Therefore a litelift, mini-lift, lower facelift, etc, in general will have less swelling and bruising than a traditional full facelift. 2 weeks in general would be enough recovery time for most undergoing a lower facelift.

Arnica, although controversial has been suggested to lessen swelling and bruising after a facelift. Is it too late to start the tablets and/ or gel at 72 hours post surgery?

Arnica best before: While the evidence is not very convincing, arnica (an herbal homeopathic product) may help with swelling and bruising from surgery. It seems to work best if started before surgery or right after, so at 3 days it probably won't do a lot of good. On the other hand, it is inexpensive and probably low risk. Be sure to talk to your plastic surgeon before starting any medications or supplements though.

As: As a former surgeon for lifestyle lift, I would highly recommend inquiring with your local facial plastic surgeon about minimally invasive facelift procedures. The original lifestyle lift procedure has a short lasting effect which you will likely have to repeat within two years of surgery. There are similarly minimally invasive facelift procedures that may be done under local anesthesia that are more efficacious. That said, there is minimal swelling after minimally invasive facelift surgery, the bruising really depends on how easily you bruise and whether you follow the post operative instructions you are given by your surgeon. Generally, it is advisable to avoid alcohol, Aspirin or nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drugs (motrin, advil (ibuprofen) etc). The bruising ranges from mild to moderate and is easily camouflageable by concealer makeup which can be applied as early as the next day after surgery as long as it is not applied over the incision lines. My warmest recommendation is to at least inquire with your local facial plastic surgeon about the indication for surgery and your options. The lifestyle lift company has a tendency to push its doctors and consultants to suggest surgery for nearly anyone walking in the door.

Ask Surgeon.: Much will depend on exactly what procedure is being planned; therefore, best to ask your chosen surgeon about realistic expectations when it comes to the amount/duration of swelling postoperatively.

How long does the swelling and bruising last after a face lift? How long will I experience swelling and bruising after my face lift? .

4days to 4 weeks+/-: This is typically performed in combination with liposuction. Bruising can be minimal lasting only 3-4 days but when more extensive, it can last 3-4 weeks. Rest, ice, compression, and avoidance of blood thinning agents may help to minimize swelling. Compression garments and lymphatic massage may also be advocated by some surgeons to expedite resolution of swelling.

Would the advertized one hour lunch "mini" facelift typically result in a wind swept look since there is pulling and not lifting of deep facial skin?

Would the advertized one hour lunch "mini" facelift typically result in a wind swept look since there is pulling and not lifting of deep facial skin?

Mini facelift: A mini facelift is a lower facelift. The actual lifting is achieved by imbricating the SMAS or connective tissue layer. When a patient has a windswept look, there are issues with the vector of the lift and the redraping of the skin. This is not determined. Y the type of facelift but by individual technique. Be sure to have your face evaluated by a board certified facial plastic surgeon.

Did a mini. Facelift surgery on the 9th June, can I use vitamin e oil, by the ears, and under and above the eyes?

Ask your surgeon: For my patients, if there incisions were healed and there were no complications I would start them on a scar regimen. If they approached me about wanting to try Vitamin E I would be ok with that. There are no good studies to show a solid benefit of any products not the market except for maybe silicone gel and sheets. The biggest thing is to ask your surgeon, because each case is a little different

VITAMIN E OIL: I TELL MY PATIENTS, "NEVER EVER USE VITAMIN E OIL OR CREAM OR LOTION ON THE SKIN! " WHY? BECAUSE I HAVE SEEN LOTS OF ALLERGIC REACTIONS TO IT. . . BUT THAT'S JUST ME.
