#9 rib fracture. 8 days ago. Been real quiet, taking ibuprofen. Rib itself no longer hurts. Area around is sore, can i resume normal activities? Golf
Resume but slowly: Rib fractures often take a lot longer to heal than many think. Because our ribs move with just breathing alone, even limited activity without lifting can effect your pain level. However, it's vital to not just sit around without any activity--we must keep our lungs inflating well to prevent collapse and possible pneumonia. Anti-inflammatories like ibuprofen and slowly increasing activity is best. ...Read more
Acupuncture is a treatment based on Chinese medicine -- a system of healing that dates back thousands of years. At the core of Chinese medicine is the notion that a type of life force, or energy, known as qi (pronounced "chee") flows through energy pathways (meridians) in the body. Each meridian corresponds to one organ, or group of organs, that governs particular bodily functions. Achieving the proper flow of qi is thought to create health and wellness. Qi maintains the dynamic balance of yin and yang, which are complementary opposites. According to Chinese medicine, everything in nature has both yin and yang. An imbalance of qi (too much, too little, or blocked flow) causes disease. To restore balance to the qi, an acupuncturist inserts needles at points along the meridians. These acupuncture points are places where the energy pathway is close to the ...Read more

Hematomas in my buttox not healing after 3 months. Dr prescription hot compresses, tens unit, Aleve (naproxen) & 7days Loritab. Still much pain & trouble walking at time?
Yes: If the masseuse actually bruised you or even tore muscle fibers, the answer is yes. However, the pain should not last much longer and if it lasts more than a couple more days, you should seek medical attention to make sure there isn't something else going on. ...Read more
Pain in hamstring with movements, no swelling no bruising, pain started 30 hours after workout but doesn't feel like DOMS. Blood clot?
Exercise related: You worked out. Then you noted pain in hamstrings. This most likely represents sore muscles from the workout. If you are otherwise healthy and 18 years old? I would stretch the area of soreness. You note no pain at rest no swelling... Thus unlikely a blood clot. If you are short of breath, recently on birth control then see doctor immediately as that would be concern for clot. ...Read more

Is it OK to get a Swedish or deep tissue massage four
days after sclerotherapy treatment? Any precautions around your leg area?
As long as your: leg does not appear to have inflammation or muscle pain/ swelling/ bruises, your vein therapy should not cause any problems with massage. I would think that the procedure was as bloodless as could be and would not bring increased risks of blood clots after massage therapy. It's whether you can stand pain if bruises or cuts remain to be healed. ...Read more
May need to stop: Often after knee surgery high impact activity needs to be modified or curtailed. I would recommend low or no impact aerobic activity instead like cycling or swimming as an example. Perhaps working with physical therapy may help but in any case have great running shoes replace every 6 months and rest knee with any pain until resolves. If pain still persists see your doctor. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
