Get a medical check: This bruise could be from any kind of injury or bump. But your enlarged lymph glands concern me even more. So the best course of action is to have your doctor check your lymph nodes as well as your bruised area. A blood count (cbc) may be able to rule out any obvious cause of bleeding (bruises). If the lymph nodes are larger than one centimeter or if they enlarge further, then a biopsy of the node be.
Perhaps: If bruising develops without any recognized injury, there is cause for concern. Use of Aspirin or non steroidal anti-inflammatory medication like Ibuprofen can cause increased bleeding. There are other diseases that affect the bodies clotting ability and can lead to unexplained bleeding. If the condition does not resolve quickly, consult your family doctor.
Possibly: It is possible to cause bruising or injury by putting someone in a headlock. I would advise that you avoid this activity.
Possibly serious: This may be a sign of a serious condition with bleeding into the neck. It may put pressure on the airway, making it difficult to breathe. You should see a medical professional as soon as possible.

No clue: Do not know why you would develop bruising over your thyroid cartilage (it's really present in both men and women, just more prominent in men). If you haven't seen your health care provider for this already, you should. There may be some kind of thyroid problem, or even a problem with your blood coagulation, although do not know why bruising would consistently happen in that spot.See 1 more doctor answer

How did it happen?: What you described sounds like physical abuse. If any one hit you, it is imperative that you report it to police and get out of any contact with that person. What you think is a swollen lymph node may be bleeding into the tissue. If you do not wish to talk to police, talk to your clergy, your parents or an other adult that you have rapport with. Wish you good health!
You: You could have had a small torn blood vessel under the skin. If you are taking blood thinners and have recurrent bruising, then you should be evaluated. If you continue to get bruises for no reason that you can recall, then you should get blood testing.

You may be dealing with either an infection that can't be cultured or is something other than a bacteria, or else it 's due to a non-infectious cause like an autoimmune disease.
