Uncertain cause: Alleve would be the best thing to take for inflammation since ibuprofen is out. Not sure what ligaments you are referring to. There are none associated with an implant, and any where tooth was extracted should have been removed during the preparation phase for the implant. Quite a bit: You can bite with a lot of force so to bruise one would be difficult under normal function, but if you unexpectadly hit it with a bone or something very hard that you shouldn't bite on, that will do it.
