How could I know if I bruised my toe bone?

How could I know if I bruised my toe bone?

Bone bruise: To be sure about a "bone bruise" or contusion, an MRI is usually the best way. However, a toe bone bruise is not a serious injury that needs a mri. Instead, simple x-rays, and clinical findings of pain, swelling should be sufficient. I hope this helps, if so please vote me up, or follow me. Thanks and good luck! ...Read more

Tripped over my bed and the bones behind my big toe were throbbing and sore to touch and there a big bruise but it doesn't hurt to walk is it broken?

Possibly: It could be broken, sprained or contused. The myth that one can't walk on a broken bone is just that;a myth. Go get an -ray, rest, ice, elevate, compress and take otc advil, tylenol (acetaminophen) etc until you are properly diagnosed and treated. ...Read more

I have a bone bruise on the base of my foot (1st metatarsal confirmed by bone scan) how long will it take to heal?

Hard to say: Bone contusions can be treated in a variety of fashions depending on location, symptoms, etc. Usually, we will treat these with a cast boot to immobilize and rest the foot, ice, antiinflammatories and limited standing/walking. In severe cases, non weightbearing (crutches) may be needed. Follow the instructions of your foot care physician. Dr. L. ...Read more

I have great pain in the side of my foot that is unbearable. Feels like bad bruise or a chip bone. No swelling but painful to the touch. Please help.?

Runner?: The pain may come from a contusion or fx. Runners can have a stress fx and even older persons can have a stress fx or osteoporotic fx. You may only have a strain but if this pain is that severe then see someone for this and ask about a film. If this is normal then may need orthotics in the shoes you wear. See an orthopedist or podiatrist. ...Read more

Did I break a bone in my foot? Yesterday I fell walking up the stairs... Horrible pains through the top of my foot and instant swelling and bruising

Possibly: While trauma can certainly lead to a fracture, the foot/ankle is a very common site for sprains/strains. If you are unable to bear weight on that foot for more than a few steps or if ther is tenderness to touch a particular point such as the bridge of the foot or the base of the small toe, I would x-ray it to be sure. You can try icing and elevating the foot to see if there is any relief. ...Read more

I have injured my foot it is bruised, slightly swollen an hurt when I touch the bone up from my ankle. I can walk on it, what would it most likely be?

Hard to Say. But...: It would most likely be damaged to the extent that bruising has occurred. That would indicate that some level of soft tissue injury has happened. There is no way of knowing if a fracture has occurred unless an x-ray is taken. Until more definitive levels of damage can be identified, it would be best to elevate, brace and protect the foot until you see a specialist. ...Read more
