Rotator cuff: Depending on your age could be chronic tendinosis or even a rotator cuff tear. Rotator cuff pain often radiates down side of arm. Go see your doc!: It's impossible to tell from the little bit of info you've given, especially w/o examination. Perhaps you just have a swollen lymph node. Or abscess (pus pocket). Or (sebaceous) cyst. Not a common area for ganglion cyst. Maybe (aneurysmal) bone cyst. Bottom line, you need to go see your doc. If money is an issue, check out http://alvinblin. Blogspot. Tendons/muscle on lateral side of forearm near the elbow spasm, swell, hurt and is tender. X-ray and ultrasound show nothing is wrong. What may it be?

Tendons/muscle on lateral side of forearm near the elbow spasm, swell, hurt and is tender. X-ray and ultrasound show nothing is wrong. What may it be?

Tennis elbow?: Might be inflammation at the origin site of the extensor tendons on the lateral epicondyle of the elbow. Ultrasound and xray would be normal; an MRI would likely show some edema/swelling there in the form of increased t2 signal, but this expensive test may not be necessary. You may just need some rest, ice, and possibly anti-inflammatory meds like ibuprofen. See doctor though if it continues. ...Read more

I had lateral epicondylar release with tendon repair 7 months ago & when my arm get cold it hurts until I get it warmed up. Is that normal?

Unusual but possible: Tennis elbow surgery – lateral epicondylitis release and repair, is commonly associated with a protracted time to recover. At seven months though, I would expect most soft tissue changes from surgery to have recovered and remodeled. Pain associated with hypothermia suggests relative poor circulation to the tissue that improves with heat and revascularization; frictional rubbing helps with both. ...Read more

3 day after surgery to repair complete torn pec tendon 5cm retract how long b4 pain subsides and I'm unsure if I am supporting arm in sling properly?

U need to talk it --: Over with your surgeon, as all of us have our own postop routines that we follow. Your surgeon is the only one who knows the type of repair, the quality of your tissues, and the repair he obtained.
Anyway 3 days is too short a time that pain should subside. Generally pain from the incision itself will last for a minimum of 2 weeks or so.
Good Luck. ...Read more

Bad injury 2-3 weeks ago. Still cannot rotate arm palm down to palm up. Not that it hurts I just can't. Was diagnosed as elbow fx. Could this be tendon?

Maybe, but: Since you were diagnosed with a fracture, that certainly may be affecting your range of motion. Your dr should be following up with you to assure you are progressing normally. Orthopedics may be needed to assess your fracture care and physical therapy and rehab may be beneficial for improving range of motion. A physical exam would be able to help diagnose a possible tendon issue as well. Gd luck. ...Read more

Surgical operation done on tendon on my arm 5 months ago. Should the arm be just as strong as the other side?

Surgical operation done on tendon on my arm 5 months ago. Should the arm be just as strong as the other side?

Not always: Quite a few things play a role in achieving strength. Which tendon (hand vs biceps vs rotator cuff- the more proximal tend to take longer to recover). How long you had to protect it before starting rehab, and (brace yourself) whether you did your exercises as dilligently as you were supposed to. I'd talk with the surgeon who did the repair and ask this same question. Get a second opinion if unsure. ...Read more

Hand injury in may diagnosed as a bruise a few months later diagnosed as torn tendon still very painful how long does it take to heal?

If it is a tendon: It may take months to heal, provided you have adequate brace to support it while it does. Tendons are notoriously slow things to heal because of the poor blood supply to them. If you are sure it is not completely torn through and require surgery to tack it back. Keep a close relationship with your Hand Orthopedist while it heals. Good luck and thanks for trusting in HealthTap. ...Read more
