Bruised Shin Bone Pain
I may have punctured my shin bone with a rusty nail. I got a tetanus shot but 4 months later I'm getting severe bone pain at the point of the injury.
Depending on who is using the term, bone pain can be used to describe a pain that seems very deep, as opposed to something more superficial, or the term can be limited to pain that arises from the bone itself. There are other potential causes of deep pain other than pain from the bone including pain from a pinched nerve ...Read more
4yr has had shin bone pain almost every night since she was 2yrs old, xray clear. Always only in one leg, hurt to bear weight on it yesterday.
Bone scan?: Sometimes small bone abnormalities are not detected on plain radiographs. Bone scan with radio tracer can identify metabolic activity. Bonescan is sensitive but not specific. If abnormality found a mr or ct scan can be used to better define cause of pain. If bone scan is normal in this child's age often related to growing pains. ...Read more
I have shin bone pain and it's worse at night, mom won't take me to the dr. I worked out last week so I don't think it's shin splints. Pain off and on?
You might be correct: But it may be a few different diagnosis, including things that may be important for you to know about sooner rather than later. Tell your mom, I suggested you get taken to an orthopaedic surgeon for evaluation, & to ensure there is nothing to worry about, and that there is nothing growing in your bone, for example. At your age things that can cause such complaint, range from mild to serious stuff. ...Read more

Intermittent "bone pain" feeling in tibia for 3 days (at rest), unrelated to activity/injury. Could bone cyst explain it? Or prior prednisone use?
Sometimes: Prednisone can cause both bone and joint problems. If you have had long treatment courses of prednisone, it could weaken the bone and make you more susceptible to stress fractures though I would expect some pain with weight bearing. Bone cysts unlikely in your age group. As always, if pain persists, see your doctor. ...Read more

Hit my shin bone 4 weeks ago, it's still swollen and bruised. There's a large lump. Tender to touch. Only gets sore if use it to much?
Bump is hematoma: The large lump is a common normal response to an injury over the tibia from blunt trauma. The bony lining or periosteum is very vascular and thus can bleed significantly leading to a local hematoma. The swelling should start to subside with rest, ice, decreased use and an ace wrap to provide compression and protection. ...Read more

I suffered what I thought was a deep tibia bone bruise 2 months ago and now I have multiple hard lumps I can move up and down the whole tibia bone.

Is it possible to have a severe bone bruise of the tibia cause compartment syndrome in the lower thigh of the same leg.
Compartment syndrome: Is not likely to move up to the thigh from the lower leg. The fascia of the muscles of the legs and arms is so tight that it doesn't allow for expansion in the crushed muscle so the swelling leads to pain and damage to additional muscle and can result in loss of the limb in extreme cases. Have it checked in an emergency room...Special equipment to measure increase in pressure in the muscle. ...Read more
