Visit your MD: It would be best to visit your MD to have a physical examination of the area of your injury. The black eye is probably from some mild local bleeding but the scratchiness in your eye may indicate a corneal abrasion and you should be checked out for that. Good luck. ...Read more

You may be feeling: The area where the metal plate has healed or fibrosed. Or the neurovascular bundle where the infraorbital vein, artery, nerve comes out near the lower eyelid area close to the orbital rim. That would be normal. If the plastic plate has shifted, you need to see your oculoplastics eye doctor to check it out. It shouldn't feel bruised after 9 years! ...Read more

A few days: It sounds as if you have a sty on the inside of the eyelid. Try heat to the eyelid (a small baking potato heated in the microwave and wrapped in a cloth and the applied for about 10 minutes every 4-6 hours should help). This will help it to mature and open--probably 1-3 days.You should see your MD to confirm and prescribe an antibiotic once it opens and drains ...Read more

Stye: It sounds like an acute blocked oil gland of the eyelid, or stye. Discontinue contact lens wear and begin a hot compress routine to help bring the backed up secretions to a head. A gentle massage of the area after a 10' hot compress helps. Repeat 2 to 4 times daily. Cleansing the lashes and eyelids with diluted baby shampoo removes bacteria which aides recovery.
