Gastro recommended CT and colonscopy for mild abdominal pain/gas. 23 yrs old. If CT scan shows nothing, is colonoscopy necessary? no bloody stools

Options available: CT scan of the abdomen may be indicated but not for mild pain alone. If the symptoms are progressive and there is concern for Cancer(unlikely in your age group), then only I would consider doing a CT. Similarly Colonoscopy is not indicated because of pain alone. If there is bowel irregularity or blood in stool Colonoscopy is reasonable to do. In your case I would watch /monitor for 4-6 weeks, then ...Read more

I had a colonoscopy 2 days ago, after a 2 day cleanse. I'm in a lot of pain in my upper abdomen. Could my colon be bruised?

It's possible, but..: Most often, the colonoscopy is an uneventful procedure, but on occasion, depending on your body position while getting the scope and the amount of "snaking" of the scope that need to be done, you may have some abd discomfort afterwards. Be sure to call the Dr. who performed the procedure and let them know as they would want to know any difficulties you are experiencing. best wishes. ...Read more

See HPB surgeon: The symptoms you describe could well be related to the hepatic hemangioma. The decision to remove will depend on: 1) size (usually remove when > 10 cm); 2) symptomatic (pain, ache, fullness); 3) causing blood problems (when the hemangioma destroys blood cells); 4) causes congestive heart failure. See a surgeon who specializes in liver surgery, a hepatobiliary surgeon. ...Read more

Hi, my colonoscopy result 1. Mucosal biopsy from ileum shows hypertrophied lymphoid follicles. I have a vague discomfort in the lower right abdomen. I am afraid. Should I be worried?

Not from this: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, what you described of the biopsy is a non-specific finding and not diagnostic of any thing.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form.
Practice safe sex, if you have sex. ...Read more

Hard to say: If you have had an extensive work-up, but still have no diagnosis, go back to your primary care physician and go over all of the tests and results and continued symptoms with him or her. I have dull ache in upper abdomen, some back pressure, and some upper chest pain. 30 y/o maile. Endoscopy/Colonoscopy clean in Feb. What can I take?

Well, you had a good: look at the upper and lower gastrointestinal system back in February, but it doesn't sound like you really have a diagnosis yet. This is the highest priority. It's not clear whether your symptoms are coming from the GI tract, the lungs/pleural cavity, or even your heart. Continue working with your doctor to make the diagnosis and implement effective treatment. Good wishes:) ...Read more
