I have a bruise on my thigh without injury. Last week it was green now its red with a white center. It does not burn or itch?
If something: Is red with a white center the first thing to consider is infection. Now, it's generally painful if that's the case but how that is related to a bruise can be hard to say unless there was trauma with a disruption of the skin allowing for infection. Not sure but get seen if worsens, swells or gets painful. Good luck. ...Read more

Medical jargon: Very little difference. In assessing a patient, I'd ask about pain severity, location, and quality. History would supply facts about how the injury was sustained. I'd visualize and palpate the area. If there was trauma and now there is pain to touch, one can assume deep tissue injury. If there is also visual color change, there is bruising. There is rarely one without some degree of the other. ...Read more

For a head bruise/contusion, how many hours after the injury can I apply heat? How many times & how many minutes each time?Use heat for how many days?
No set rules: To minimize swelling after an injury, cold applications are recommended for 24 to 48 hours and then switch to warm applications for 20 minutes every few hours. The heat increases blood supply and breaks down blood clots under skin and promotes healing. Wrap the ice and the hot packs in a towel when applying. Discontinue the warm applications when soreness improves which is usually after several day. ...Read more

Daughter experiencing bruise like pain in upper inner thigh to the touch with no injury or external markings for 4 days. Concerning?
Yes: Pain is always a sign that something is amiss. The description is not specific to a single cause. One must consider what travels in and through that area. With no history of trauma or bruising I would want to examine the site & possibly do an ultrasound to search for a cause. ...Read more
After car accident, have no external bruising but experiencing pain. Deep tissue bruising? Why does it itch? Seat belt caused injuries.
Bruise, muscle pull: Itching often comes as a part of the healing process related to "cascade" releases of chemicals in the injured area. The initial response is inflammatory cells. As these transition to scar building cells, chemicals that get released trigger mast cells to release a small amount of Histamine. This can produce itching in a big enough release. Any cut, bruise, torn muscle, will produce inflammation. ...Read more
