I have recently had a freezing cold, swollen, numb but painful to touch, paralyzed, bruised coloured wrist with no injury, what could cause this?

EMERGENCY: Signs of lack of blood getting to the tissues of an arm or a leg include numbness, paralysis, coldness, blue color. These are signs to go to emergency room IMMEDIATELY. If there is a blockage in an artery, measures can be taken to restore circulation and save the affected limb. Certain meds (eg sumatriptan) constrict arteries, although I've not heard of this particular symptom with sumatriptan. ...Read more

How long should I wait to return to baseball after a deep bone bruise in wrist?

How long should I wait to return to baseball after a deep bone bruise in wrist?

Gradually return...: You may work your way back as your swelling/ pain decreases, you regain full motion, & strength. Also, expect that returning to certain activities may be more difficult than others. Part of this will be based on whether you have injured your dominant/non-dominant wrist & your position. If you have persistent symptoms, consider additional imaging, such as an mri, to r/o soft tissue injury. ...Read more

Freezing cold swollen numb & painful to touch temporarily paralyzed & bruised coloured wrist & no injury. docs have seen it and say its just my Fibro?

You may need nerve conduction velocity/electromyogram studies to rule out peripheral neuropathy and imaging like an xray for a start and labwork. It may be carpal tunnel syndrome whicg is often associated with fibromyalgia. Try wearing a splint on your wrist to restrict repetitive flexion/extension. ...Read more

Is it bad if a bruise on my wrist makes pain travel throughout my arm if i press on it?

Is it bad if a bruise on my wrist makes pain travel throughout my arm if i press on it?

Probably not: So long as you still have normal functioning of your hand and normal sensation (when not pressing on it) you should be fine. The wrist has a lot of structures in it and limited space. The nerves are like wires and can carry signals in both directions. Your bruise is likely close to a nerve and it gets pushed on when you push on the bruise. ...Read more
