Get checked: Though one can bruise yourself from scratching, normally the itch comes first. Rarely but possible I have seen severe hives resolve leaving a bruise, thought due to an autoimmune phenomenom. Perhaps it's not quite a bruise. Early shingles? UP? DH? Orthopedic physician: Pain in the hip in your age bracket can occur for many reasons. Certain stresses around the hip can lead to avulsed tendons at muscle insertions. Sometimes the joint space can form fluid, so called synovitis secondary to trauma, inflammation, etc. Sometimes changes in the lower spine and pelvis can refer pain to hip. Probably healing: If you are able to walk normally and have no other symptoms than what you describe as burning and itching in the area I would reassure you that it is not a serious injury. If you develop a rash or other symptoms in the next few days you should seek attention again- otherwise no treatment and be reassured ...Read more

May be trochanteric: This may be trochanteric bursitis. Ask your physician? It is treated with Physical therspy, exercise, heat or cold applications, injections etc ...Read more

Hip pain: Most likely still is a muscle or tendon issue in your hip, especially if it hurts with movement in the hip. Bursitis is another possibility. Outside of the hip, it may be referred pain from a back issue or possibly a problem in your abdomen like an ovarian cyst depending on where in your hip you hurt. I would try some ibuprofen is able to and see if that helps to start and see a doctor. ...Read more

Had IM B12 shot in right hip area bruised and painful has been 5 weeks bruise gone still painful when touched, walking or laying on it. Suggestions?

Pain in hip: It is possible that during the shot a small blood vessel was injured thus the bruising and pain. The pain will likely resolve in time. Try icing the area. If no improvement consult your doctor. ...Read more
