You didn't mention: how it all started, but you need to get medical help immediately if it's spreading! Don't delay. Bruises don't grow, but spider bites with venom do, and especially causing pain. Lower left leg pain. Sharp but doesn't hinder anything. No known bruising. Just above shin but it isn't on the bone so not shin splints I think?
Could be Shin splint: Shin splints are not necessarily on the bone. What happens is that the muscle belly gets pulled from the bone, but the pain can be palpated on the muscle itself. Some trauma?: Bruises are from blood leaking out of capillaries (tiny blood vessels) in the skin. Having bruises means there was trauma to the area. If there was no trauma, the bruises mean either the blood vessels are abnormally fragile and break easily, there are too few platelets to help blood clot, or the blood is "thin" and not clotting fast enough.
