Visit your MD: It would be best to visit your MD to have a physical examination of the area of your injury. The black eye is probably from some mild local bleeding but the scratchiness in your eye may indicate a corneal abrasion and you should be checked out for that. Good luck. ...Read more

Stye: It sounds like an acute blocked oil gland of the eyelid, or stye. Discontinue contact lens wear and begin a hot compress routine to help bring the backed up secretions to a head. A gentle massage of the area after a 10' hot compress helps. Repeat 2 to 4 times daily. Cleansing the lashes and eyelids with diluted baby shampoo removes bacteria which aides recovery. Not likely: If that is the only part of your skin that is yellowed, I would wonder if you had a bruise on your scalp/forehead area in the last 2 weeks that has allowed some late discoloration to reach your eyelids. Are you using eye shadow that is a new product for you that may leave a discoloration after removal? If the whites of your eyes of other areas become yellow, see a doctor about liver problems. ...Read more

Blepharitis: Most likely this is an inflammation of the lashes (similar to dandruff of the scalp) in which the margins of the lid are red, there are yellowish deposits on the lashes and there is some tenderness and even redness of the eye itself. Your ophthalmologist can help conquer this and also distinguish it from another common lid problem, the demodex parasite - a mite which lives in the lash bases. ...Read more
