I was walking up stairs then suddenly I tripped and got a bruise on my cheek bone and my left shoulder. Any help?

Bruises: Bruises are best treated conservatively. To contain the spread and overall size, try icing the area. That will also help with swelling. Unfortunately, a bruise otherwise just takes time to get better. The purplish color will slowly turn to a greenish color which will fade to yellow and then disappear. ...Read more

I believe my 1yo has her first molar coming in. She also has a small bruise spot on her cheek about the same location. Could a tooth cause a bruise?

I believe my 1yo has her first molar coming in. She also has a small bruise spot on her cheek about the same location. Could a tooth cause a bruise?

Yes: If it is truly on her cheek then it is likely trauma from biting or something else. If it is on the gums right next to the molar or on top of it it could be an eruption cyst. Goes away on its own most cases. Watch it and if concerned see your dentist for consult. Children should see their dentist by age 1 for first check up. ...Read more

Why does the infection keep spreading? Tooth extraction @ 6 weeks ago of upper left molar. Infection has spread despite taking a lot of antibiotics. X-rays and cat scan were taken and nothing found. Now there is a quarter sized bruise on the cheek and

I : I don't have the advantage of seeing you or your ct scans, but this sounds like a possibility might be buccal space cellulitis. Is there any fever, warmth, pain, or redness to the cheeks? It's odd you haven't responded to an appropriate course of antibiotics. The addition of a short-term course of steroids may help you with the swelling. I would think that consultation with an infectious disease specialist would be appropriate in this setting. ...Read more

Had 16 teeth pulled on 5/20/14. Fitted with temp dentures. Still having some bleeding. Is that normal? Inner and outer cheeks bruised..is that normal?

It is normal 100%: It is a serious surgical procedure and is not completely risk-free. It is normal to have slight fever, bruised cheeks, slight bleeding. Pain and swelling following surgery is usually at its worst 24 – 48 hours after surgery. After that it should subside more and more every day and after 7 days stop. Do not remove temporary denture (only for cleaning 2X/day). Get well soon. ...Read more

Hi, my wife gave my cheek a friendly squeeze, and now i seem to have what appears to be a large patch of blood forming like a bruise, but growing, .?

Love Hickey!: Just be happy she loves you! perhaps you take Aspirin on a regular basis, or like me, do crossfit and have to take nsaids just to function! it is just a bruise. If none of these scenarios fit and the bruise continues to grow, or you get more, then you should probably see your internist and get a complete blood count to make sure everything is as it should be. ...Read more

Can biting on the inside of the cheek cause bruising on the outside of the cheek?

Can biting on the inside of the cheek cause bruising on the outside of the cheek?

Unlikely: It's unlikely that biting the inside of the cheek would cause bruising that's visible from the outside. The mucosal lining of the mouth is actually very tough, and you'd have to bite through a very thick layer of mucosa to cause bleeding that'd be visible as a bruise from the outside. ...Read more
