How long does soreness last from heart cath done this past thursday & looks like some beat me as have large area of bruise on groin and upoer leg?

Bruising is common: Typically soreness should last only a few days whereas bruising might persist for weeks. Reabsorption of blood between facial layers takes time (the cause of the bruising). If femoral nerve trauma or irritation is present the pain in the groin might persist for some time (neuropathic).

How long does soreness last from recent heart cath and is it normal to have huge bruises in groin and leg at site of cath?

How long does soreness last from recent heart cath and is it normal to have huge bruises in groin and leg at site of cath?

Huge? Not the norm: But possible - a bruise might form at the catheter insertion site, and the area may feel sore or tender for about a week. Let your doctor know if you have problems such as: a constant or large amount of bleeding at the insertion site that can't be stopped with a small bandage. Unusual pain, swelling, redness at or near the insertion site. Talk to your doctor about activity restriction.

Bruises from cath: There is bruising associated with the manipulation of the catheter that can continue to make its way to the surface for days after the fact. Do not be alarmed.

Bruising: You need to find the cause of your brushing and swelling. If you are on a blood thinner your doctor MAY need to change the dosage. In any case, please see your doctor now. Peace and good health.

Post CATH: Some bleeding into the groin is not unusual post femoral puncture. It often dissects lower also. This should not in general be pulsatile or painful. It is worth having your dr. Check it.

What is going on with my leg? I felt a small tare in my groin area on my left side, I have been icing for about 24 hours and now my knee is starting to hurt and bruise as well as my groin increasing in pain.

I: I wonder if you had an injury to a vein or a blood vessel. A hernia is also a possibility. The symptoms are concerning for a vascular problem or hernia and I would urge you to seek immediate medical attention. If you had leg swelling or pain, fever, vomiting, or shortness of breath then you would have to be seen as an emergency.

Details matter: You left out too much. The darker your skin, and the more friction or pressure, the more you will have darker pigmentation.

Normal: It is also likely to cause bruising, sometimes impressively so. You can take tylenol (acetaminophen) for the pain, and keep an ice pack to the area and it should help some.

Needs to be checked: We can not tell you what it is without knowing the location of the lump. It may be a hematoma (clotted blood under the skin) I suggest you get it checked by your doctor asap. It needs to be examined and may need imaging like ultrasound if indicated

Lump in Groin: All groin lumps should be examined by your health care provider. Causes: harmless (benign) cyst, hernia (usually a soft, large bulge in the groin on one or both sides) infections in the legs, injury trauma to the groin area. Lipomas (harmless fatty growths), swollen lymph glands in the groin.

Hit in the groin with hockey puck and about an hour after the incident my testicles were really bruised, swollen, and painful. What should I do?

Put ice: Direct trauma to your groin area can cause swelling and pain. Typically it will get better with ice, rest and anti-inflammatory medication like advil (ibuprofen) or motrin. If it does not seem to be getting better after a few days, you shoul dsee your doctor.

I am a female and have bruising near groin after laparoscopic inguinal surgery 4 days ago, not at incision site. Is this normal?

I am a female and have bruising near groin after laparoscopic inguinal surgery 4 days ago, not at incision site. Is this normal?

It can be: It could be normal if the laparoscopic instrument was used to explore near the groin area. Using a laparoscope does not guarantee that just the incision site is the area of bruising.
