I have brown vaginal discharge, I had itching an burning sensation but that has gone now an I have just brown discharge. It doesn't smell?
See doctor. STD?: Any new or unexplained vaginal discharge needs medical evaluation. At your age (19) and assuming you are sexually active, for this kind of discharge I would be most concerned about an STD, especially chlamydia, gonorrhea, or maybe trichomonas. Itching/burning could be herpes. See your GP or gynecologist, or for guaranteed expert care, perhaps your local NHS GUM clinic. Good luck! ...Read more

Blood has iron.: Hemoglobin has iron in it, which explains the smell. Having a menstrual cycle or spotting can cause the tan brown discharge. See a doctor if you are having sexual activity as other causes like STDs are possible. ...Read more

Vaginitis: Usual causes of vaginitis are yeast (candida or monilia), bacteria, or trichomonas. None of these will show up on usual STD tests (tests for gonorrhea, chlamydia, HIV and syphilis). You can try OTC yeast treatment but if not better see your doctor for additional evaluation. If it is trichomonas, that is something transmitted from/to a sexual partner, who would need treatment too. ...Read more

I had a colonoscopy and polyp removed 3days ago. I have had thick brown vaginal discharge since. Is this normal.
No: Colonoscopy has nothing to do with vaginal situations. If no tumor was detected perforating anterior wall of rectum into vagina, which I suspect is not the case, then vaginal discharge is uterine in origin. Blood that remains in utero and passes to the vagina will decompose and appear as a brown discharge. One must examine the uterus by ultrasound to see what the endometrial lining is like. ...Read more
