When you say: "swab test" do you mean Pap? Do you know what type of hysterectomy you got? Was it "supracervical" ie was the cervix spared? Still have ovaries? If you still have a cervix & ovaries, you may also have a teeny bit of uterus capable of making an endometrium. Vaginal fissures or cervical changes deeper than the swab can reach are also possible. Vaginal cuff bleed: The bleeding may be coming from the area where the vagina was sewed back together after the removal of the cervix called the vaginal cuff. If the cervix was NOT removed @ hysterectomy, then a GYN MD needs to see the area immediately. The vaginal cuff can also be evaluated by a GYN MD, but not as urgently. Brownish discharge is a small amount of old blood. So something bled a little and then comes out with intercourse.
If this happens monthly, this could be a small period from a small amount of endomterium (lining of the uterus) left behind after your hysterectomy.
