Brown Scaly Patches On Skin
I've had a red patch of skin on my leg for about 1.5 months. It got a bit larger and turning brown. A little scaly in middle. What could this be?
Dermatologist helps: A primary care doctor can check to see what the patch might be. If needed, a dermatologist can help also. If there is something causing the spot (such as sports equipment), the cause can be removed. Sometimes, dry sensitive eczema patches look like reddish, slightly flaky areas. Also, tinea "ringworm" is a fungal skin infection that can look this way (the doctor can decide) and need an antifungal. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

The light and dark patches could be various things but medications such as hydroquinone/azelaic acid are used often to lighten skin. This situation would best be evaluated in office. ...Read more

I have a discolored dark, itchy, scaly patch of skin on my back. What could it be and how can I remedy it?
I have many white, scaly, raised, and different colored patches on my skin that are growing larger each year. Any idea on what it may be?
Irregularly shaped dry scaly dime sized patch appeared on back. Dark brown w/few light parts. Not itchy. Wont go away. Should I be concerned? Thanks.

Good luck! ...Read more
