You will need some type of antifungal treatment. If it is the toe itself that is discolored, depending on the color it could be a bruise, dermatitis or fungus, or possible blood clot to the toe. As long as the base of the nail (the part farthest away from the tip) is not damaged, the nail will eventually grow back with the new new nail pushing out the old nail.
