Depends: If you had sex since your last period, do a home pregnancy test. If the result is negative repeat the test 4-5 days later unless you get a period by then. Use first morning urine and follow the instructions for the test carefully.
If you do not wish to be pregnant, use contraception all the time, every time. You may consider implanted contraceptive, or IUD.

See your Doc...: It sounds like you period was abnormally short for you and now you are having pregnancy-like symtoms and back pain. You probably want to see your doc and find out what is going on. Pregnancy is a possibility and so is something abnormal like an ectopic pregnancy or miscarriage. Its also possible you are not pregnant. But it may take a blood test and visit to figure it out.
