My 3 month old sons poop has turned dark brown with white chunks in it. He is formula fed enfamil with baby oatmeal in it. His stools have increased?
Brown is OK!: Baby poop is lots of different colors and can change from day to day for any baby. One day brown, one day yellow, one green. The worrisome colors are dark black after the first few days of life (cuz your first poop is blackish meconium), red poop or pure white poop. I suppose purple would be weird too! as his digestive tract matures, consistency will also vary. And yes, baby poop stinks! ...Read more
Mucous in the stool: Is this mucous a one time event or happening a lot? Is the baby having many (10-12) stools a day and are they watery? Are you breastfeeding or formula feeding? Do you see frank blood in the stool? These are all important questions in trying to figure out if this is milk-protein allergy. I would see you pediatrician for evaluation. ...Read more

25 weeks pregnant, stool color changed from brown to yellowish and softer 10 days ago. Any risk for baby's or pregnancy health? What should I do?
Pretty common: The color in stool is the breakdown product of the bile when it has not been in the gut long enough to go through a change from green thru yellow to brown. It is normal as is the loose consistency. Some digested material will take on a darker tint than others & the germs in the gut will also impact the final product. I'd ignore the whole issue. It is not a risk for baby. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
11wk bottlefed baby had lots ' dark brownish' mucus/jelly in poo. Dr wont test as he seems well. Started last wk small bits blood now heavy mucus?
Your blood: The most likely thing is that it is your blood that he is consuming while breast feeding. If you have any soreness, cracking or irritation of your nipples, they can bleed while he is nursing and he can actually swallow a significant amount of blood from this. If he is thriving, not vomiting, and his poo is just colored, i'd look to you first. ...Read more
