I have lots of age spots on my arms and legs. Are there any home remedies available to lighten or reduce the appearance?
Age spots: I know of no effective home remedies to lighten or reduce their appearance. Particularly if due to sun exposure, i would first make sure to be evaluated by a dermatologist to make sure there are not more concerning skin issues, before focusing on the use of products that will lessen on lighten these age spots. Multiple: Brown spots on the skin of the leg can develop from several sources. The most common is a sun spot which originates from sun exposure. These are also called lentigos. You could also have a newly developed nevus or mole which can develop throughout your life and not be abnormal. I've just found 8 brown/black rough spots on my 56yo caucasian husband's back, leg and arm. Should i be really scared?
Not really.: Would be very unlikely that he has 8 cancers on back. If all look alike and are rough they are likely what we call seborrheic keratoses. They are benign. However, it is possible he has one cancer and it might be one of those lesions - hard to say because i can't see them. Have your doc look at a skin check in the near future to put your mind at ease. Stasis dermatitis: This could be small drops f blood in skin. This can come from varicose veins. If however they are of recent onset they could represent a condition called vasculitis which is an allergic reaction to a drug, or possible underlying infection.
