Very low iron and borderline ferritin level. I have skin bronzing since 2 years. What can it be?

Find cause: Your physician will pursue a workup to explain your apparent (not proved) iron deficiency -- it may be as simple as heavy periods or a few pregnancies, or as potentially deadly as a gut cancer or ulcer. I hope you are not on an unhealthy diet -- an unsupplemented vegetable-based and an empty-calories diet are equally likely to make you sick with iron deficiency. Good luck. ...Read more

My serum cortisol 8am test is normal but I show symptoms like skin bronzing & others. Can I have hemochromatosis? I'm 19 yrs and female. Need help : (

Please see doctor: You really need to see your doctor to determine what is causing the bronzing you've described. I previously mentioned hemochromatosis because those who have it may appear bronzed. However, it is not a common disorder. You merit a comprehensive evaluation by a physician who will take a thorough history and perform a physical exam to determine if you need any testing. Best wishes! ...Read more

Can pcos cause facial and body skin bronzing like a sun tan in a 19 year old female?

Serum cortisol 145 ng/ml and acth plasma 25.00. I'm showing strong symptoms of adrenal insufficiency mainly skin bronzing. What domy results indicate?

Units of measure: Cortisol level is completely normal for a random morning sample and not suggestive of adrenal insufficiency. Acth units of measure are missing. Is this pmol/l or pg/ml? Even in extremely rare cases of acth resistance, nearly all patients are cortisol deficient. But your cortisol result is fine for morning random. Other things can cause bronzing like certain medication and hemochromatosis. ...Read more
