Doctor insights on:
Bronchitis And Laryngitis
Antibiotics: Most cases are self limiting, in some antibiotic and decongestants are needed.
Bronchitislaryngitis: As long as you do not have a high fever, you can go back to work. I hope you did not get prescribed an antibiotic because your conditions are caused by a virus. There's no need to wear a mask as long as you cover your mouth when you cough and, of couse, wash your hands when they are used).
Improvement expected: Sometimes there is prolonged inflammation in the airway. If you continue to cough after finishing the course of antibiotics, I would recommend an evaluation. Bronchitis can caused by either viral illness, in which case the antibiotics will not help and bacterial illnesses. After 7 days, I would not expect any fever and the cough should be improving.See 1 more doctor answer
Not recommended: Generally not recommended to drink alcoholic bevarages while on antibiotics. Ride out the course of treatment before alcohol intake.
Hello... A couple of weeks ago I was treated for bronchitis and laryngitis. I have had a sore throat for the last couple days and really dark yellow mucus and blood coming up. My ear has began to ache. What is going on?
Check it out: See your doc. You may have a secondary bacterial infection
Ever since I had my first bout of bronchitis/laryngitis 3 yrs ago, everytime I get sick, I get laryngitis. Is there any possible way to avoid this?
You might: Have acid reflux. Have your doctor check it out. Or it could be allergy.
I've had acute bronchitis & Laryngitis since about Saturday and have been off work since. Is it ok to go back tomorrow without infecting the office?
Had bronchitis & laryngitis 2 weeks ago & finished zpac. Still coughin up white mucous with blood in it. Had low grade fever & today am runnin a fever.?
Viral or Other Dx.?: Most laryngitis and bronchitis are caused by viruses. Antibiotics don't do anything to them. If you are not improving go back to your dr for re evaluation. For the laringitis try to breath steam (vapor, hot air) and avoid talking, singing, shouting. Let your dr consider some sputum analysis, throat cultures, laboratory tests, chest x ray and to consider a different antibiotic or increase the zpac.See 2 more doctor answers
I had bronchitis & laryngitis for 8 days, recovered. 2 days later sore throat/stuffy nose returned at night for 7 days. Could it be strep?
Maybe: New throat pain can be from a strep throat infection (antibiotics are needed), a cold or influenza (antibiotics usually not used), or from some other cause such as allergies or irritants. Usually, a person sees the doctor if the sore throat is bothersome, recurrent, or doesn't go away quickly (mainly to check for strep throat). Throat lozenges and Tylenol (acetaminophen) or Motrin can help decrease throat pain.
1.Acute bronchitis, 2.Allergic rhino laryngitis, CT scan report:mild mucosal thickening in bilateral maxillary sinuses. Still same prb after treatment.
Allergy testing: In allergic rhinitis, it would not be unusual to only have mild mucosal thickening on ct scan. That's good news... You don't have sinusitis or some other process going on! If 3-4 weeks of regular nasal steroid spray doesn't help, (must be used as prescribe to work) then you may want to see an allergist for formal allergy testing.
I am supposed to be induced on Wednesday, I think I may have laryngitis/bronchitis. Could this effect the baby if I do deliver? Should I push It back
Bronchitis: I do not see this as a problem. Let your OB know.
Just the opposite: The question should be how long will it take for my immune system to resolve my laryngitis and bronchitis. Most cases of acute bronchitis and certainly laryngitis are viral and symptoms of cough and hoarseness should disappear in about 10 to 14 days. It is highly unlikely that laryngitis or bronchitis would suppress or decrease your immunity.
Diagnosed with bronchitis 3 weeks ago, then bronchial restriction and laryngitis 1 week ago. Still hoarse. How long should I rest my voice (teacher)?
Bronchospasm...: As an episode of bronchitis resolves, you can develop bronchospasm which can account for at least some of your symptoms. Bronchodilator and steroid inhalers may be needed to help these symptoms resolve. It will likely take at least a few days for the hoarseness to resolve. See your doctor for a prescription for the inhalers.
Any otolaryngologist: got laryngitis in tokyo then bronchitis. Only thing I had was amox 500. Took 7 days now sore throat 4 days later.?
Have a cold, started in nose, than throat now chest. Stuffy nose, productive cough, laryngitis. Is this bronchitis? When do you need to go to the Dr?
Viral syndrome: It sounds like you initially had an upper respiratory viral illness which then became a lower respiratory viral illness. If the duration of symptoms is beyond 10 days and you're getting worse, then it is likely that it has become a bacterial infection which likely needs antibiotics. If it had been less than 10 days, then you would continue doing conservative measures at home and see if it clears.
My 9 year old daughter had strep throat and bronchitis about 3 weeks ago, and was put on amoxcillan, now has a almost laringitis...dr's again????
New problem: Laryngitis is usually a viral infection involving the vocal cords and is quite separate from strep 3 weeks ago. If she in unable to drink, play and get comfortable you may want to have her seen. If she is keeping up with her fluid needs, eating and functioning pretty well you can ride it out at home.See 1 more doctor answer
