Broken Tooth At The Gum Line
More info needed: I'm somewhat unclear about your question and the information given. Specifically regarding the words, "for a full arch". Is one tooth supposed to support a full arch restoration? Or do you have a full arch of broken teeth below the gumline? Teeth fractured or decayed below the gumline are normally best extracted as the long term prognosis is poor. You would need to be personally examined w x-rays. ...Read more

What is this thing on my gums? I have had a hard bone like growth on my bottom front tooth it seems to be connected to the broken tooth which is there. There was an abscess a long time ago that burst and left a hole in my gum. Now the broken tooth
Hard to tell sight unseen and without a radiograph, but it sounds like the abcess and broken tooth you left untreated for such a long time has created a substancial amount of bone loss around that tooth. It could be that the root end is poking through the hole in your bone and sticking into your gum tissue.
Not a healthy situation.
Obviously you understand that you need to go see a dentist to have the tooth extracted. The dentist who extracts the tooth will determine if it is indeed the root end or something else. Please go and be seen as soon as possible to avoid further complications or massive infection. ...Read more
Is it a good idea to have a only periodontist extract a broken tooth embedded in the gums instead of a dentist?
One who restores: Whoever restores the site would be preferred to do the extraction. Well, : Well, if you haven't been to the dentist in the last 25 years, now you have a reason to go. I do not recommend that you remove your own tooth. The dentist will do xrays and will determine the extent of damage before making the best medical recommendation. There can be serious repercussions from a badly fractured tooth that goes unrepaired. There are also issues with just pulling a tooth- because other teeth can shift into it's place. ...Read more

Portion of tooth broke off a couple of weeks ago; there was no pain. A large piece has now broken off as well - still no pain. How could this happen? There is just a small stub left at the gum line. I'm afraid to ask how expensive this repair will be.
See : See your dentist for an examination and xray to determine if the tooth is indeed salvageable. If the tooth did not have a previous root canal (which removes the nerve) the other likely possibility is that the tooth nerve has died (... We call it necrotic). The necrotic tissue within the canal over time can lead to an infection, pain and swelling. Don't ignore it now because it doesn't hurt. At a minimum find out what treatment is necessary and if it is too extensive or expensive consider having the tooth extracted (as opposed to waiting for it to develop into a bad toothache). ...Read more
