They swell up and are more easily irritated for several weeks after trauma so that blood in the mucus can occur for 3 to 6 weeks afterwards. The tenderness: May be the sign, though unusual to present this way? Flonase at night may help relieve pressure on the frontal sinuses, try some pseudophed or Claritin d, if that helps it may be what that is, go in for fever and try aleve (naproxen) 2 2x per day.
