Broken Bone If I Can Still Move My Fingers
A fracture is a broken bone. As there is cartilage at the end of many bones at the joint, a fracture may also include a break in the cartilage. Fractures and broken bones are the same thing. It seems that many believe that a "fracture" is a lesser injury or an incomplete break in the bone, but this is not correct. Fractures may be displaced or ...Read more
I hurt my ring finger when i fell. It feels dislocated. Little inflamation. I can't close or open fully. What do I do to help? Could it fractured etc?
Possible: It's certainly possible that you may have sustained a fracture (broken bone) when you fell - x-rays will show this. A dislocation is usually not subtle - in most cases the joint will be obviously out of place. Loss of range of motion is very common after finger injuries - even just sprains. It's very important to restore that range of motion, so see a physician for further evaluation. ...Read more

I fell and landed on my elbow. I can move it, but cannot straighten it easily and there is pain when i move my wrist. no bruise or swelling but heat?
Go to the doctor: You need to get the finger evaluated today. Go to an urgent care/ER where they can do X-rays on site. When it comes to hand injuries, you don't want to wait. The best chance to recover normal hand function is if you get it evaluated right away. The inability to move and feel the finger are very concerning. ...Read more

My thumb is a little swollen. I can't bend it all the way and can't grasp anything. I am in pain. Do you think it's broken or fractured?
Needs to be checked: We can not tell you if it is broken or fractured without knowing more like if you had an injury and how long it has been swollen and without examining it and without Xrays It needs to be checked by your Doctor and if fracture is suspected will be only confirmed by xrays Other causes can be inflammation like tendinitis or an infection ...Read more
The side of my wrist severely hurts when I move my hand or lightly touch the side of my wrist. I also hear a snap sometimes. However, I do not feel pain if I do not move it and do not touch it. Do I have a broken or dislocated bone?
Wrist pain : If you have had no injuries then probably not. You could have a subluxation where the bones are slightly misaligned. This could be fixed by a Chiropractor or an Osteopath who does manipulation. An X-ray would be in order fist though just to rule out any under issue first ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
I have a broken radius and ulna on my right arm, under cast 1 week ago, how will i know if it is healing? If i feel minimal pain when i move.
Minimal pain is OK.: But increasing pain, bluish discoloration and impaired movement, numbness and tingling of fingers suggest too tight placement of the cast. In 6-8 weeks your dr will repeat xray to determine if alignment of the fracture and callus (new bones) around the fracture site have occurred and these are signs of healing. http://www.noelhenley.com/249/how-do-i-know-my-broken-bone-is-healed/. ...Read more
I am not sure if my hand has been sprained, fractured or even broken. My hand had bent all the way back and I am not sure what to do and it wont bend ?
Time for evaluation: You should make an appt. With an orthopedic surgeon. Any of these diagnoses could be correct. The solution could be as easy as a temporary wrist splint, and/or as complex as surgery. Exam and x-rays are the only ways to determine the extent of the injury. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Wrist sprain: May indicate a severe injury not just a "normal no fracture" X-ray. My finger is swollen and I can't get my rings down it. A softball hit it hard and I heard it crack. I cannot bend all the way.. Jammed or broke?
Need xray: Sounds painful! Very difficult to determine if it is broken without an xray. I recommend buddy taping it to the neighboring finger, icing it 20 min on 20 min off, and keeping it elevated above chest level to reduce the swelling. Seek medical care if you are concerned about a possible fracture. Does not necessarily require ER. Urgent Care or your primary care provider should be fine. ...Read more
