?? poison ivy: Some people are more sensitive or resistant to poison ivy than others, and it is common for people who had hardly any reactivity when younger to the plant (literally rubbing themselves with poison ivy-- don't try this btw- causes no reaction) to begin to get some sensitivity when older. 40 is an age when this can happen. Especially if rash is itchy you can see an md for treatment and advice.

Red Spots (Definition)

One possibility for red spots is a collection of vessels in the skin and they are called hemangiomas. These can easily be treated. I usually will use ...Read more

Psoriasis: Stay away from any harsh things on the skin. Topical Hydrocortisone may help as well as some sun exposure. Many times psoriasis will require prescription medications if you have already been diagnosed with it by your doctor.

I have red spots on my lower legs. What could be the cause?

I have red spots on my lower legs. What could be the cause?

Some possibilities..: Rashes are difficult to describe in words. A primary care doctor or a dermatologist can examine a red spots rash to see what it might be. Sometimes rashes are related to medications, but many times they are not. For unusual rashes, a skin biopsy may be done by a dermatologist. Other causes include viral infections, allergies and autoimmune reactions, chemical irritants, bug bites, etc...

I have a rash on both lower legs, no itching, no pain, slightly raised. Red spots, noticed on 9/04/2014, starting peeling about a week after that.

There are many: Questions: first your age, second recent history of fever, illness, any history of contact with allergens, and of course see what the rash actually looks like. My suggestion is that if your rash does not clear in 2 weeks I would see a dermatologist for diagnosis and treatment. There are many things you may have but most likely if rash resolves it is related to virus or contact. Hope that helps

Possible reaction: It is difficult to assess without seeing the lesions but it can represent a bite or even represent a reaction to a viral upper respiratory infection. I would see a physician so that they can perform the appropriate evaluation or tests for this if it does not improve.

Red itchey spots on lower legs?

Dry skin eczema: Nummular (coin shaped) eczema is extremely common on the lower legs. Dry skin starts the condition, and scratching (excoriation) worsens the itch and rash. Usually, a topical steroid is required, often a strong prescription steroid. If your condition worsens with steroids, ringworm (tinea corporis) must be ruled out. In general, I recommend shorter warm showers (not hot), nonscented lotion daily.

Any new drug or supplement introduced? If they bother you enough, you should consult your doctor to find out whether treatment is needed.

Give it time: Small hemorrhages in the skin will fade with time. Let it heal by itself, intervention can only make it worse.
