I've been getting sharp pains on the left side of my head. The pain is brief but i've had them for a while and lately they seem to occur more often.
Chronic paroxysmal hemicrania (cph) is thought to be a variant of cluster headache because of similar autonomic features. Both cluster and cph are classified as trigeminal autonomic cephalgias. , almost all cases of cph are relieved by Indomethacin and this response is considered diagnostic for cph.
Rec.: see your pcp for Indomethacin test. ...Read more

Transverse position: Usually the head is pointed down toward the pelvis late in pregnancy. Some are buttocks down and rarely they appear transverse (head to one side with buttocks to the other). There is some chance the baby will shift positions before labor starts, or the obstetrician may try to help baby by doing a "version" maneuver. Are tumors and blod clots a common cause of headaches? What can cause sharp brief pains in the head?
No!: Headaches are commonly caused by benign conditions such as Migraine and tension headaches which are commonly due to stress. Sharp pains which last less than a minute or two are of no significance and therefore can be safely ignored. If you get anxious about them, they may keep coming back. Does shaking your head cause brain damge? This could be as far as nodding to violently shaking it. A brief explanation why would be greatly appreciated
Depends: In an infant, shaking the head can be catastrophic. In adults the mere act of shaking your own head willfully is not likely to cause harm. Now if someone else physically ; aggressively shakes your head, this may cause injury to neck and brain, particularly in elderly individuals. A case in point is the brain trauma that occurs in sports with repetitive sudden jars to the head (soccer, football). ...Read more

Sometimes when I speak loud/passionately I get a brief headache on top of head, dissipates as I calm down. BP normal. What causes this&is it dangerous?
Why does anxiety out of nowhere cause sudden brief dizziness, head rush and slightly faint feeling?
Panic: Fear or panic leads to release of adrenaline which causes fight-flight response, leading to rapid heart rate, rapid breathing & sweating. Rapid breathing causes drop in carbon dioxide in lungs then blood, which leads to shifts in blood ph (hydrogen ion concentration) leading to dizziness. Another cause is adrenaline leading to narrowing of blood vessels to brain, hence less blood flow to head. ...Read more

What causes blood pressure spikes that last about a minute. During that time, my head seems to have a lot of pressure and I hear swishing?
BP spikes: With the limited information provided, my suggestion is to ask your doctor to evaluate you and to particularly order blood or urinary tests that could detect increased catecholamines in your circulation...there are very rare adrenal gland tumors known as pheochromocytomas that could present that way. Looking “red as a beet” and having an increased heart rate are common associations. Good luck! ...Read more

Why does my head and face throb when I stand up? Brief headache lasting 5sec or less. Happens when I barely strain when on the toilet too. Tumor?
When standing, especially from lying down the blood flow dynamics to the heart and head and neck region change. The description of a similar effect with mild straining on the toilet is known as the Valsalva maneuver.

Random brief sharp pains in left side of neck.Followed by head pain.Muscle or Maybe something serious?
Age and medical hx?: So age and previous medical history will play into the diagnosis here, but if you don't have a previous history, and are relatively young, I would likely chalk this up to muscular. Possibly something suboccipital (base of skull), which may press on one of the nerves running up front along your skull. An osteopathic physician could help with this; muscle relaxants may also help. Good luck! ...Read more
