Not in labor: You likely didn't dilate because you weren't in preterm labor. There are no medications that will stop true preterm labor; the best we can do is slow things down to allow benefit of steroids to improve lung maturity. Current guidelines recommend against the use of medications beyond 48 hours for slowing contractions, there is no demonstrated benefit that justifies the risks of these medications. ...Read more

Yes similar: Yes both are bronchodilators known as beta 2 receptor agonists. Both ventolin and bricanyl (terbutaline) work on the smooth muscle receptors of the bronchial tube to cause the muscles to relax opening the airways. Both are fast acting but wear off in a matter of 6 hours. Check on step-wise asthma treatment as additional medications may be helpful such as inhaled steroids. ...Read more

Wash bed linens in hot water and dry in hot dryer each week helpful. See healthcare provider for eval. Daily peak flow monitoring with plan for when levels low important.
