Two possibilities: Your eustachian tube can be too open. It normally stays closed and opens with pressure changes or swallowing. If it is open always, it can cause you to hear your own breath sounds. It should get better with lying down. Or you could have a superior semicircular canal dehiscence, which means a compartment of your inner ear has a hole in it. Viral pressure: You may be having a couple of things. This could just be ear pressure from a virus that is causing you to be able to hear your heartbeat, whereas you normally wouldn't. You could also have a perforated eardrum giving you this sound, although that would have given you severe pain.
