Tenderness in L breast in nipple/areola area. It seems to flare before period. Concerned it's only in 1 breast. Normal mammo 7m ago. 38 years old.
Prob nothing bad. : Especially since it seems to come and go. The fact that it flares with your period is also reassuring in that cancers don't usually 'flare' , they just keep growing steadily. Have you seen a surgeon. ? If not get in to see one for evaluation. A biopsy will confirm the area is benign. ...Read more

Breast reconstrution: Congratulations on being a breast cancer survivor! your reconstructed breast will settle some over time, but it is not realistic to expect it to ever look exactly like your natural breast. I have had 2 c sections 28 years ago and a tummy tuck 7 years ago. The scar for the tummy tuck has opened. Approximately 1 CM , minimal bleeding. ?
Scar: Scars typically don't open up after 7 years. That being said a suture granuloma could explain this. You should be seen and examined by your plastic surgeon if that is possible. If you have changed areas use the asaps or asps websites to locate a board certified plastic surgeon in your area. ...Read moreSee 4 more doctor answers

Hi 4 week post gynecomastia and aerola reduction surgery, over time will the nipple size reduce as it heals?
Yes: your body does not know the difference between an operation by a surgeon and trauma (I.e. Getting a cut or other wound). Like a bruise, the operated area will swell and hurt for a while. Regardless, see your surgeon. He/she can make sure that there is no hematoma/serous (a fluid collection after operation). ...Read more

Pregnancy: When a woman's breasts start feeling different than normally and there is unexpected spotting on an IUD that typically suppresses menstrual periods, the first thing that should be ruled out, is pregnancy. The next step would be blood tests that could uncover a hormonal disturbance as an underlying cause for both symptoms - I am thinking of TSH and Prolactin. Further work up may be needed after tha ...Read more

Itching and redness on mastectomy breast with reconstruction, slightly enlarged supraclavical node? Just 3 months after bc treatment.
Yes but be careful: When used for breast reconstruction, breast implants are placed under the "pec" muscle. As you work your chest, your pec muscles compress and push the implants out to the side. Light chest work outs shouldn't make a difference longterm. More aggressive chest work outs can widen the implant pocket over time which can lead to the implants being displaced sideways, especially when you're laying down. ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers
Scarring, Cancer: As dr. Whitfield & others described, scarring around the implant may cause this pain. However, local recurrence of the tumor is another possible cause. I advise you to see your cancer surgeon, as well. Local recurrence is often evident by exam alone. However, an ultrasound or MRI can help supplement the physical exam, as needed. ...Read moreSee 4 more doctor answers
Depends: The answer depends on how recently you had your surgery. If surgery was recent it can be normal due to the increased volume or may be something more serious like a hematoma. If it is many months after surgery, it can be a capsule forming. Best to discuss this with your surgeon. ...Read moreSee 6 more doctor answers
